Response to Manipulation in Moxyland

Though the characters are influenced by corportaions and technology how much are they actually manipulated? I am not so sure that it is manipulation rather than dependence. The characters depend on technology to go places and to do things. They aren’t manipulated into using it but rather brought up within the system which creates a dependence. Corporations definitely perpetuate that dependence as we can see through Kendra. Her body and her life now depends on the nanos running through her veins, eatting diseases and keeping her healthy. The police also perpetuate this dependence by difusing Tendeka, giving him a taste of what it is like to live with out mobility. Technology creates the illusion of access and opportunity but it limits their movements within the world.
